1. Public Center for Environmental Information
In 2001 Children of the Baltic in cooperation with NGO Green World and Transboundary Environmental Information Agency (TEIA) had established Public Center for Environmental Information in St.-Petersburg.
Services of the CEI:
- information about environmental situation in St.-Petersburg region and Baltic area;
- free access to the Internet recourses on the environment;
- environmental library and video-materials;
- consultations on the access to other information resources about environment;
- consultations on public participation in decision-making concerning environment.

2. Environmental rights
Ñhildren of the Baltic NGO promotes people environmental rights and public participation in the decision making on the local and regaional level.
In 2001 Ñhildren of the Baltic in the frame of international AVA project had published the leaflet "Take youê rights!" (in russian) and distributed it among citizens of St.-Petersburg and Leningrad oblast at the seminars, bus-campaigns, public actions.
Children of the Baltic had published in 2001 the booklet "Aarhus Convention for Better Environment. We have a right to know! We have a right to participate!" (Manual for citizens) with the support of Danmarks Naturfredningsforening (DN/DANCEE) in the frame of the international AVA project devoted to the promotion of the Aarhus Convention, and also with the support of Gagarin Fund (St.-Petersburg).
This publication contains information about our rights for participation in decision-making on the events that we meet every day. Either cutting trees or building a new plant, we have to know how we can influence these processes. This booklet contains a list of main laws on environmental protection, starting from the Constitution of the Russian Federation, and information about organisations working in the field of environmental and health protection. Much attention is paid to the Aarhus Convention, which was the first international document generalising environmental rights of common people.
Now the new edition is preparing by Children of the Baltic in cooperation with environmental and human rights NGOs.
3. Energy education.
Children of the Baltic works for the Energy Education for schoolchildren in the frame of the international SPARE project since 1997.
NETWORK OF PUBLIC CENTERS
FOR ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY
In NW Russia with the support of Canada Civil Society Fund the project
"Forming active citizen's position in inhabitants regarding energy saving and environment through the network of public centers for environmental information in the North-west Russia" started in 2004.

First project results:
St.Petersburg Public Center for Environmental Information became coordination center for distribution energy saving education.
During 6 months 77 visitors got consultations on energy saving and 24 telephone consultations were given.
Two more Public Centers for Environmental Information and Energy Efficiency were established - in Apatity and Lomonosov.
Festivals of Youth Projects on Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency were organized in St.Petersburg January 22 and in Apatity April 15.
The Moving Demonstration Set of energy saving tools for flat and hous was created
Open Day for Alternative Energy took place in St.Petersburg April 26
Programs of Public EcoInfoCenters were presented for local authorities in St.Petersburg (in three municipalities), Apatity and Lomonosov.
Public Hearings on the energy saving measures for householders took place in St.Petersburg April 26 (Admiralteiski district)
Inter-regional seminar-training on energy saving and public participation fro NGO activists on NW Russia was held in St.Petersburg in June
Round table with participation of deputies, specialists of community service, NGO activists and teachers form three project regions took place in Lomonosov June 17
Establishing a Public Information and Training Centre on Sustainable Energy in St.-Petersburg, Russia
This Centre will be based on the Public Centre for Environmental Information and established with the help of the experience of CSE (Bristol, UK). The Centre will inform people about the relationship between energy and the environment, share knowledge about a sustainable lifestyle in connection with energy consumption; promote ways to save energy at home; sustainable energy solutions for organisations and communities. The Centre will organise training on sustainable energy, one or two days courses, acting as a constant demonstration set (video, exhibition, posters), providing individual consultations for different groups of NGO activists, specialists, local authorities, general public.
In 2000-2001 on the base of Center for Environemnatl Information the set of printed and video materials on nuclear energy and energyefficiency was created by the support of ISAR foundation and distributed among partner NGOs of St.-Petersburg, Leningrad oblast and Northwest Russia.
