The eastern part of the Gulf of Finland is shallow and regularly freezes over. Thus, its ecosystem is highly sensitive to human pollution.

If all oil ports in the Gulf of Finland will develop in the way as it is planned now, then my calculations show that in 40-60 years the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland will become a dead zone. This part of the Finnish Gulf is one of the most valuable natural places from the viewpoint of ornithology in the Northwest Rusia and in the Northeast of Europe. We will lose it.
