ACCT! – Acting on Climate Change Together!

NGOs and teachers provide innovative climate change education for young people in Russia's North-West.

How do you teach young people about climate? How do you create interactive platforms where young people can come together in the fight against the climate crisis? What skills and knowledge do you rarely get at school or university?

In the project "ACCT - Acting on Climate Change Together!" environmental organisations and educational institutions have joined forces to develop climate education programmes. The aim is to provide young people in the northwest of Russia with knowledge about climate change and its impacts. With the help of a council of climate education experts, five formats will be developed, tested and implemented by the end of 2021. Young people in St. Petersburg, the Leningrad, Arkhangelsk and Murmansk regions and in the Republic of Karelia will become more aware of climate change and its impacts. Teachers will be provided with tools to work with young people in schools, universities and extracurricular activities on climate change issues: What is climate change? What causes it? What does it cause on our planet and especially in Russia? What needs to be done to stop it? Local NGOs will also be strengthened to address climate change with young people and raise their awareness for it.
