Water and climate: the consequences of climate change in the region

On August 26, Friends of the Baltic held a media tour for journalists and bloggers, during which they talked about the relationship between climate change and the state of aquatic ecosystems. The participants of the event drove along the northern and southern shores of the Gulf of Finland to points with vivid examples of the consequences of climate change.

With support of these video methods, you will be able to quickly learn how to use the tools and reagents that the Friends of the Baltic team has and that we provide free of charge to volunteer teams of River Watchers.

The citizens of St. Petersburg catastrophically lack places for coastal recreation. And in the city of Lomonosov (this is the Petrodvortsovy district of St. Petersburg), which has 11 km of coastline, there is not a single beach.

«Друзья Балтики» совместно с экспертами из АО «Северо-Западное ПГО» (Холдинг «Росгеология») повторно обследовали социально значимые родники в Выборгском, Ломоносовском, Гатчинском, Волосовском, Лужском районах Ленобласти, Курортном и Красносельском районах Санкт-Петербурга. Исследование проводилось в рамках проекта «Чистые родники – здоровая Балтика», поддержанного Фондом президентских грантов. По данным повторных исследований – 9 из 30 родников непригодны для питья. Friends of the Baltic and Ecocentrum presented the results of a three-year work on the Barents-Baltic Nature and People program and the project “Small-scale solutions to reduce nutrient load into the Baltic Sea” in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.
